Lisa Rinna arrived at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards with a very clear fashion inspiration in mind, but once photographs from the evening began circulating, viewers quickly found plenty of other details to debate.
The 63-year-old actress has never been known for playing it safe on the red carpet, and her appearance at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 27, 2026, was no exception. Rinna stepped out with a dramatic new hairstyle and an eye-catching white gown that immediately separated her from the crowd.
But before Rinna’s Madonna-inspired transformation became one of the evening’s most discussed looks, several other celebrities had already set the tone with bold fashion choices of their own.
Teyana Taylor arrived in a striking floor-length black lace gown covered with dramatic feather detailing. The sheer material created a fitted silhouette, while a plunging neckline and wide velvet waistband gave the design additional structure.

The outfit exposed her midriff and featured voluminous fabric around the forearms, with narrow strips falling from the sleeves. Her long black hair was worn straight and center-parted, keeping the rest of the styling simple and allowing the unusual silhouette to stand out.
Madonna continued the dark fashion theme in an all-black ensemble that blended lingerie-inspired elements with leather.
She wore a structured corset-style bodysuit with lace-up detailing down the front, along with fishnet tights and black heels. A leather jacket sat loosely around her shoulders, while her long blonde hair fell in waves around her face.
A sparkling necklace provided contrast against the darker textures.
Madonna was also photographed with Taylor Swift during the ceremony and later appeared onstage beside Sabrina Carpenter, where Carpenter held a Moon Person trophy as the two stood together at the microphone.
Madonna’s presence at the ceremony carried special significance for Rinna.
The pop icon returned to the VMAs for her first live performance at the awards show in 23 years. Her previous live VMA appearance had been in 2003, when she opened the ceremony alongside Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Missy Elliott.
