    Why So Many People Wake Up Between 3:00am and 5:00am

    Getting a full night of uninterrupted sleep has become surprisingly uncommon for many people. Even those who go to bed at a reasonable hour often find themselves suddenly awake in the middle of the night, usually somewhere between 3:00am and 5:00am.

    For some, falling back asleep happens quickly. For others, those early morning hours can feel endless, filled with racing thoughts, restlessness, or anxiety.

    Interestingly, experts and cultural traditions alike have long attached significance to this particular time window.

    The period between 3:00am and 5:00am is sometimes called “the hour of the wolf,” a phrase made famous by legendary Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman through his psychological horror film The Hour of the Wolf.

    Bergman described it in haunting terms:

    “The hour between night and dawn … when most people die, sleep is deepest, nightmares are most real. It is the hour when the sleepless are haunted by their worst anguish.” Continue Reading ⬇️
