Jo Dee Messina Mourns the Loss of Her Father, Vincent Messina, at 95

Vincent Messina, the father of country music star Jo Dee Messina, has passed away at the age of 95.

Jo Dee shared the news on Saturday, January 24, through a heartfelt post on social media. Alongside the announcement, the “Heads Carolina, Tails California” singer shared a deeply moving video of her father singing “Daddy’s Little Girl” by Al Martino — a moment that now carries even more meaning.

In the minute-long clip, Vincent can be seen visibly emotional, choking back tears as he sings the tender lyrics to his daughter:

“You’re the end of the rainbow, my pot of gold
You’re Daddy’s little girl to have and hold
A precious gem is what you are
You’re Mummy’s bright and shining star.”

Text overlaid on the video reads:
“He got so emotional, and today, I can barely watch this … I love you, Daddy. Give mom a hug for me.”

In the caption, Jo Dee confirmed her father’s passing and reflected on the pain of losing a parent, no matter the age:

“November 28, 1931 – January 23, 2026. We lost my Dad last night. It doesn’t matter how old you are, it’s never easy to lose a parent. So much more to his story…”

Jo Dee’s mother, Mary Messina, passed away in 2020 at the age of 90.

The country star was one of four children born to Vincent and Mary, and she has often credited her parents as a major force behind her success. Mary famously ran Jo Dee’s fan club for years and was deeply involved in her career, even reportedly living next door to her daughter at one point.

Vincent Messina was a beloved high school basketball coach in Massachusetts and supported his family by working at a car factory. By all accounts, he was a devoted husband, father, and pillar of his community.

Our thoughts are with Jo Dee Messina and her family as they remember and celebrate the life of a man who clearly meant the world to them.

Next Article “A FLEETING REMARK — BUT THE ENTIRE STAGE OF PRIVATE LIFE LIGHTS UP.” Under the flashing lights of the cameras and the sound of rolling suitcases on the cold stone floor of LAX, Rick Springfield emerged as if he had just been pulled onto an impromptu Hollywood stage. No intro music, no script, he delivered a short but sharp statement, echoing through the noisy space like a guitar note cutting through the silence. That moment suddenly transformed into a post-divorce monologue, where Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban — though absent — were still placed under an invisible spotlight. While the legal documents coldly closed with numbers and clauses, that advice carried the raw rhythm of rock and roll: frank, bold, and unvarnished. The crowd stopped, the cameras held their frames, and the statement spread like a controversial chorus. Not an official performance, but it was a moment when the stage lit up — where a brief remark was enough to stir up all of Hollywood.
