On Monday, January 12, Megan Moroney gave fans an early look at what’s coming next, teasing her upcoming single Wish I Didn’t on Instagram.
“🩷 WISH I DIDN’T OUT FRIDAY 🩷,” the 28-year-old captioned the clip, filmed from her car while wearing a pink, star-covered pullover. In the video, Moroney lip-synced to lyrics that make it clear this one isn’t exactly a love song — instead, it sounds like a warning shot aimed at a former flame with a messy reputation.
The song hints at patience, payback, and playing the long game, flipping from charm to consequences in classic Moroney fashion. It’s all sweetness on the surface, with an unmistakable edge underneath.
Fans immediately went into detective mode.
Several commenters pointed out that the lyric about “making it rain” felt like a direct nod to Riley Green’s 2024 song of the same name.
“THE RILEY DIG!!” one fan wrote.
“This has Mr. Green written all over it,” another added. “Love to hate it or hate to love it!”
Others leaned even harder into the theory, joking that Green might want to brace himself.
Some fans also zeroed in on a visual detail in the teaser: Moroney drops her sunglasses mid-clip. Commenters connected that moment to earlier rumors involving Green, who allegedly deleted and reposted a photo of himself wearing sunglasses with a reflection that fans believed showed Moroney — fueling speculation they were vacationing together at the time.
“She ALSO dropped the sunglasses to ‘make it rain,’” one user wrote. “It’s like a reference to the viral reflection pic.”
Later that same day, Moroney appeared in a TikTok conversation with media personality Elaina Smith, where she opened up about another unreleased song, Who Hurt You?, calling it one of her most exposed tracks yet.
She explained that she held nothing back while writing it — intentionally laying everything out so she wouldn’t have to keep answering questions about what she vaguely referred to as “the situation.”
According to Moroney, the song says everything she needed to say, line by line, leaving no room for follow-ups.
“I’m pretty consistently vulnerable,” she said, “but with ‘Who Hurt You?’ I went bar for bar, didn’t lie, said everything. There should be no further questions.”
Naturally, TikTok commenters had thoughts.
“Def about Riley!!!!!” one wrote.
Another posted a Simpsons meme reading, “I’m in danger,” captioned: “Riley Green watching this.”
Moroney and Green were first linked in early 2025 after fans believed they spotted clues suggesting the two were traveling together. By March, however, Green told the In the Blind podcast that he was single. He’s also been linked to Ella Langley, with whom he’s collaborated on multiple duets.
As for Moroney, she’s clearly channeling whatever went down straight into the music.
Her third studio album, Cloud 9, arrives February 20 — and if these teasers are any indication, she’s done explaining herself and ready to let the songs do all the talking.
