Not easy when you’re that big.
By now, most people know about the incredible physical transformation Jelly Roll has undergone over the last couple of years. At his heaviest, the country star — born Jason DeFord — weighed around 550 pounds, and he’s been candid about how severely it affected his daily life.
Jelly Roll revealed that he reached a point where he felt “disgusted” with himself, struggling with even the simplest tasks:
“A little bit over a year ago, I literally struggled to walk down my hill to the mailbox… I had let myself get to a point of being absolutely disgusted with myself.”
He also admitted that mobility issues made basic hygiene difficult, describing the humiliating physical limitations that come with extreme weight.
His personal health consultant, Gary Brecka, painted an even clearer picture of just how dangerous things had become. Brecka says Jelly Roll feared he might not wake up each morning:
“He would say, ‘I have to sleep on my side and wedge myself in with pillows because if I roll on my back, I’ll suffocate.’
He told me he never turned the radio down at stoplights because he didn’t want to hear himself wheezing. Every morning he thanked God he didn’t die in his sleep.”
Two years later, the change is astounding.
Jelly Roll is now down 250 pounds, looks like a completely different person, and is openly joking about the hit his wallet is about to take now that he’s finally able to fit into high-end brands like Louis Vuitton:

Fans have watched the transformation unfold in real time, and Jelly Roll’s confidence has grown right along with it.
During his recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, he opened up about another part of his life that suffered at his former size — his intimacy with his wife, Bunnie Xo. While keeping things lighthearted, he admitted that being severely overweight made physical closeness difficult, saying it put a strain on something that should have felt natural and joyful.
Now that he’s lost a dramatic amount of weight, things are… much better.

Bunnie herself recently poked fun at conspiracy theorists who claim Jelly Roll must be a “clone” because he looks so different — while also sharing how proud she is of how far he’s come:

The truth is simple: it’s inspiring to watch someone take control of their health, refuse to give up, and transform their life piece by piece. And Jelly Roll’s journey isn’t just about appearances — it’s about reclaiming mobility, happiness, confidence, and years of life.
It’s clear the work he’s put in is paying off for him, for his family, and yes… probably in the bedroom, too.
