A country icon meets a Hogwarts legend — and fans are loving every second of it.
During a recent visit to the Today show, country star Lauren Alaina had an unexpected run-in with Daniel Radcliffe, best known to the world as Harry Potter. The crossover nobody saw coming quickly turned into a moment of pure magic, and the photo they snapped backstage has fans losing their minds.
Alaina, 31, shared a carousel of photos from her November 24 appearance on Instagram, highlighting her performance with fellow country artist Chase Matthew. But the picture everyone zeroed in on was the one featuring Radcliffe, 36, who was also on set promoting the filmed version of the Broadway musical Merrily We Roll Along, co-starring Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez. Both groups of performers appeared on Jenna Bush Hager’s Jenna & Friends segment alongside Andy Cohen, and somewhere in the busy hallways of Studio 1A, their paths collided.
The backstage snapshot shows Alaina dressed in a sleek black velour jumpsuit, smiling brightly next to Radcliffe, who looked just as thrilled to meet her. Fans immediately filled the comments with wide-eyed reactions. “Was that Harry Potter?” one follower asked, while another simply wrote, “omg Harry WHAT.” Someone else summed up the moment perfectly: “The Daniel Radcliffe crossover I didn’t know I needed.”
Though Radcliffe will forever be associated with the role that defined a generation, he’s built an impressive career far beyond Hogwarts since ending the franchise in 2011, starring in films like The Woman in Black, The Lost City, and Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Still, seeing him next to one of country music’s brightest personalities created a surreal, delightful collision of fandoms.
Alaina celebrated the moment with her caption, writing, “TODAY was a good day fo SHOW 🖤,” and encouraged followers to watch her performance with Matthew on the Today website.
A spellbinding pop-culture crossover and a killer country performance — not a bad Monday at all.
