Everything You Need to Know About The Road — CBS’s New Country Music Competition Featuring Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, and Gretchen Wilson

    The Stars Behind the Show

Country icons Keith Urban and Blake Shelton are teaming up once again — but this time, they’re not just performing. The two legends will serve as executive producers of The Road, alongside media powerhouse Taylor Sheridan, the creative mind behind Yellowstone and its hit spin-offs.

Together, they’re bringing a new kind of competition show to television — one that blends country music, touring life, and real emotional storytelling straight from America’s heartland.

Gretchen Wilson Joins as Tour Manager

“Redneck Woman” herself, Gretchen Wilson, is taking on the role of tour manager for the series. She’ll guide the contestants through the realities of performing and touring, offering mentorship drawn from her own decades on the road.

“Stepping into the role of tour manager for The Road has allowed me to take everything I’ve learned over all of my years of touring and pour it right back into these emerging musicians,” Wilson said. “It’s a highlight of my career.”

In her role, Wilson will ensure the tour runs smoothly while sharing her expertise, encouragement, and tough love with the rising stars.

    Guest Appearances From Country Royalty

Throughout the season, several of country music’s biggest names will join the show as guest mentors, including:

    Jordan Davis

Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town

    Dustin Lynch

TJ and John Osborne of Brothers Osborne

Each will offer their own insights on songwriting, performance, and navigating the road to stardom.

    Meet the Contestants

Twelve aspiring country artists will compete for the top spot. Here’s the full lineup:

Adam Sanders – Lake City, Florida

Billie Jo Jones – Emory, Texas

    Blaine Bailey – Tahlequah, Oklahoma

    Briana Adams – Winchester, Texas

    Britnee Kellogg – Anthem, Arizona

Cassidy Daniels – Marion, North Carolina

    Channing Wilson – LaFayette, Georgia

    Cody Hibbard – Adair, Oklahoma

Forrest McCurren – Jefferson City, Missouri

    Jenny Tolman – Nashville, Tennessee

Jon Wood – Wake Forest, North Carolina

    Olivia Harms – Canby, Oregon

These contestants will not only sing — they’ll write, perform, and tour across the U.S., facing real audiences every week.

    How the Competition Works

Each week, contestants will perform in a different U.S. city as the opening act for Keith Urban.
To move forward, they must win over the live audience, who will vote in real time to decide who advances and who goes home.

Unlike many music competitions, The Road focuses on originality — contestants will perform their own original songs, giving fans a glimpse into their artistry and storytelling.

    The Grand Prize

The winner of The Road will walk away with a $250,000 grand prize and a recording contract, potentially launching a full-fledged country music career.

    When and Where to Watch

The Road premieres Sunday, October 19, airing weekly at 9/8c on CBS.
Episodes will also be available to stream on Paramount+ for those watching online.
