Digging through the roots of your 2025 ACM New Female Artist of the Year.

This past weekend, Ella Langley got the surprise of a lifetime on stage during her Rock the Country set. A video message from Miranda Lambert popped up with a game-changing announcement: Ella had just been named the Academy of Country Music’s 2025 New Female Artist of the Year.

“But I’m also here to tell you some news,” Lambert said. “You, my friend, have won New Female Artist of the Year for the ACM Awards this year. We are going to celebrate so big in Dallas, Texas, they ain’t even ready. So Rock the Country, y’all give it up for my friend and New Female Artist of the Year, Ella Langley.”

Caught completely off guard, Ella could only manage:

    “God Bless America.”

Perfect words for a Rock the Country crowd.

There’s no denying that Ella Langley has emerged as a major force among female country artists this past year. From her breakout track “That’s Why We Fight,” featuring Koe Wetzel, to the CMA-winning “You Look Like You Love Me,” Langley has won over listeners with her signature twang and raw, emotional lyrics.

Of course, success in country music rarely happens overnight. Just ask Lainey Wilson, who spent years living in a camper before her big break. Ella’s journey wasn’t much different—years of hard work paved the road to where she is now.

Following her ACM win, some of Langley’s early work has resurfaced on social media. Though she released a track called “Clear the Clouds” in 2017, she doesn’t consider it her official debut. That would come in 2018, with the release of “Perfect.”

Clips of these early songs have been making the rounds, thanks to the TikTok account Countrymusic333, offering fans a glimpse at how much she’s evolved as an artist over the last eight years.

These clips highlight more than just musical growth—they reveal how Ella has come into her own stylistically too, embracing a bolder, edgier image. Let’s be honest—we’re all a little unsure of ourselves as teenagers, and it’s no surprise the 25-year-old has gone through a transformation.

Musically, the shift is undeniable. Her songwriting has deepened, and her current sound fits her far better, helping her command the stage like she does now. It’s hard to picture her flipping her hair to “Clear the Clouds” or “Perfect” today. While some fans weren’t exactly kind about her early work, give the woman some credit. Even Tiger Woods didn’t become the best overnight. Real artistry takes time to develop.

    Here’s what people are saying:

“Wow, I would never guess that was Ella Langley.”

“If you think this is crazy, you should see Post Malone from his early days.”

“She’s mentioned taking vocal lessons to strengthen her lower range. Add that to growing up, bringing back her natural eyebrows, and bangs—this is who she is now. It’s not that deep.”

“I’m glad she evolved musically and found her sound.”

“God forbid a girl figure herself out.”

“Ella Langley and Ella Bangley are two different people.”

“At least she kept going. This was cringe.”

    “Her glow-up is INSANE.”

“This just proves no one starts off perfect. It takes time and effort to find your voice, sound, and style—which makes her even more deserving of the award.”

“And she absolutely deserves it. She’s grown so much and is incredibly talented.”

    “Ugh. We all have pasts.”

    “She had the wildest glow-up.”

Ella Langley’s future in country music is looking bright. With one major award already under her belt, she’s also nominated for seven more at the 60th Annual ACM Awards. Something tells us she’ll be adding more to her trophy shelf come May 8th.

Fun tidbit: Whiskey Riff actually hosted Ella for a livestream back in 2019… so yeah, we’ve been fans from the start.
