Riley Green’s Wildly Successful Country Career Hasn’t Changed This One Jaw-Dropping Habit He Shares with His Parents And It Involves a $750 “Piece of Junk”!

Riley Green Still Hands His Mom the Checkbook — Literally
He might be topping the country charts and selling out arenas, but Riley Green hasn’t forgotten where he came from — or who’s still in charge.

In a recent interview with Taste of Country Nights, the 36-year-old Alabama native revealed that his mother still holds onto his checkbook. And it’s not just a sweet gesture — it’s part of the tight-knit, down-to-earth dynamic that still defines the Green family.

“My dad called me yesterday and asked if we could buy an enclosed trailer for $750,” Green shared, laughing. “Which is not what they cost — so I can tell you it’s probably a piece of junk. But I said, ‘Yeah man, mom’s got my checkbook, just go get it.’”

Despite his success, Riley’s not above hunting for bargains with his dad back in Alabama.

“There’s this big flea market on Saturdays and Sundays. Me and my dad go up there and look for bargains and people’s used junk that nobody needs,” he said, proving fame hasn’t changed his love for the simple things.

A Chart-Ready Duet with Ella Langley
That grounded attitude carries into his music. After the success of You Look Like You Love Me with Ella Langley, the pair has reunited for another standout duet — Don’t Mind If I Do — the title track of Riley’s new album.

“It’s got that older, traditional feel,” Green says. “But I’ve never heard a duet where the female just sings the last chorus from her perspective.”

Originally, the song wasn’t written as a full duet. But Riley heard something special.

“She just sang the last chorus at first,” he explained. “Then I went back and had her slowly come into the song with harmonies. I liked introducing her kind of slowly into the song like that.”

With hits on the charts and his mom still signing the checks, Riley Green is proof that you can chase big dreams without ever letting go of your roots.
