After “the SUDDEN death of his son Jerry” – he did not seek the noise of the stage but returned to faith, and from the deepest place in his broken heart, “The Father, My Son, and the Holy Ghost” was born. The first time Craig performed the song at the Grand Ole Opry, the whole audience fell silent and then burst into tears, including Ricky Skaggs – who came to hug him and said: “You must sing again, because THE WORLD NEEDS TO HEAR this.” And the most touching moment was when Blake Shelton – Craig’s “close friend” – suddenly walked to the center of the stage, holding Craig’s hand in silence. A scene that made the country people EXPLODE.

    • They were just teens chasing impossible dreams—and somehow, they made us believe. In 2011, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina weren’t just finalists on American Idol—they were magic. When they sang “When You Say Nothing At All,” it wasn’t just a duet. It was vulnerability, hope, and raw talent wrapped in one unforgettable moment. Two young souls, scared and shining, showing us what it means to feel something real. That performance didn’t just win hearts—it stayed in them.

Kenny Chesney Surprises Nashville Crowd with Emotional Duet Featuring Kelsea Ballerini

Fans at Nissan Stadium were in for a special treat on Saturday, May 28, when Kenny Chesney brought out a surprise guest during the Nashville stop of his Here And Now Tour — country star Kelsea Ballerini.

Midway through his high-energy set, the East Tennessee native stunned the crowd by inviting Ballerini onstage for a heartfelt performance of their chart-topping hit “Half Of My Hometown.”

Before diving into the song, Chesney paused to share just how much the collaboration meant to him.

“I grew up in East Tennessee, and so did she,” he told the crowd. “We drove the same roads, ate at the same family spots, and listened to the same radio stations. We also heard a lot of people say we couldn’t chase these dreams. But I came to this town with a head full of dreams and a heart full of music.”

Chesney continued, “This song — and this person — validated that dream. We had a No. 1 together this year, and tonight we finally get to celebrate it, right here in Nashville!”

Wearing coordinated red shirts and blue jeans, Chesney and Ballerini delivered a powerful, emotional rendition of the RIAA Gold-certified single. As the final notes echoed across the stadium, Ballerini was visibly moved, overcome by the realization that she was standing beside one of her longtime musical idols — living out the dream she once imagined as a young girl from East Tennessee.

It was a night neither she — nor the crowd — will ever forget.
