Lainey Wilson Stuns With Powerful “Somewhere Over Laredo” Performance at 2025 American Music Awards
On Memorial Day, May 26, the 2025 American Music Awards brought together artists from every corner of the music world for a star-studded evening in Las Vegas. Hosted by the legendary Jennifer Lopez and broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+, the show featured standout performances from stars including Blake Shelton, Shaboozey, Post Malone — and a truly unforgettable moment from country powerhouse Lainey Wilson.
Lainey Wilson Shines Bright for Country at the AMAs
Following her recent ACM Entertainer of the Year win, Lainey Wilson took the AMA stage with confidence and grace, delivering a live debut of her brand-new single “Somewhere Over Laredo.” As one of the few country women represented at the event, Wilson made her presence felt in a big way.
While the winner of her nomination — Favorite Female Country Artist — hadn’t yet been revealed at the time of her performance, Wilson had already rallied her fans to vote in the lead-up to the show through her social media channels.
A Performance to Remember
Dressed in a striking all-white outfit and framed by a dreamy sky-filled backdrop, Wilson’s performance paid subtle tribute to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” while making the new song entirely her own. Her rich, commanding vocals filled the arena, leaving both live and television audiences mesmerized.
The emotional ballad, released just days earlier on May 23, is part of the deluxe edition of her Whirlwind album and has already sparked excitement among fans.
With a performance full of soul, strength, and style, Lainey Wilson reminded the world why she’s one of the brightest stars in country music today — and why her name keeps showing up on the biggest stages.
