Audrey Nethery Dances Her Way to the New York City Ballet Stage

Audrey Nethery was only a few months old when she was diagnosed with Diamond-Blackfan Anemia, a rare blood disorder that affects the body’s ability to produce red blood cells. Regular blood transfusions have been a part of her life ever since. But despite her diagnosis, Audrey has never let her condition hold her back—especially when it comes to dancing.

Her journey to the spotlight began when her father, Scott, shared videos of a then 6-year-old Audrey dancing on YouTube. Her joy and infectious energy quickly captured hearts across the world, leading her to perform with several well-known dance groups. One of her most incredible milestones came at age 8, when she was invited to dance with the prestigious New York City Ballet. Surprised by one of the NYCB ballerinas, Audrey lit up with excitement, exclaiming, “Wow!” She trained with the company before taking the stage for a special Christmas performance of The Nutcracker, where she shone with grace and charm.

While she’s now tried her hand at ballet, Audrey first won hearts through her lively Zumba routines. When her parents noticed how much she loved to dance, they enrolled her in a local Zumba class in Louisville, Kentucky. Videos of her dancing to the Latin-inspired fitness style went viral, with viewers admiring her spirit and positivity.

Her talent didn’t go unnoticed. Audrey was invited to perform at the International Zumba Convention in Orlando, where she led a performance with her instructors and thrilled the audience with her infectious energy. Fans lined up for photos and autographs, and the video of her performance has since racked up over 93 million views on YouTube.

Now 15, Audrey continues to share snippets of her life through videos posted on her father’s YouTube channel. Whether it’s archery, baking, acting, playing golf, or dancing with her school’s dance club—Audrey throws herself into every hobby with joy and determination.

She’s also passionate about giving back. Audrey has helped raise over $10,000 for the Diamond-Blackfan Anemia Foundation through her Facebook page and frequently posts videos raising awareness about the condition, including moments from her blood transfusions and fundraising events.

Audrey Nethery’s story is a beautiful reminder that challenges don’t define a person—passion, resilience, and joy do. Follow her journey on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram to see more of her incredible story unfold and join the community cheering her on.
