During Carrie Underwood’s Cry Pretty Tour 360 in 2019, she wowed fans at every stop with unforgettable moments. But when the tour hit her home state of Oklahoma, the Tulsa crowd experienced a surprise no one expected — and it came straight from Carrie’s own family.
🏆 A Tour Full of Surprises Before the tour began, Carrie invited her fans to send in videos of themselves performing the iconic Ludacris rap verse from her hit song “The Champion.” She chose one lucky fan at each stop to join her on stage for the rap segment, adding an extra layer of excitement to each show while celebrating her fanbase.
Throughout the tour, audiences were treated to incredible talent from fans across the country. But none of those special moments were quite like the one on October 24, 2019, when Carrie took the stage in Tulsa and invited her biggest fan — her mom, Carole.
🎶 From “Mama’s Song” to Rap Queen Carrie’s fans might recognize Carole Underwood from the emotional “Mama’s Song” music video, where she starred alongside Carrie and Carrie’s husband Mike Fisher. In that video, Carole displayed her acting skills, but this time, she surprised everyone by stepping into a completely different role: rapping.
Yes, you read that right — when it came time for Ludacris’ verse in “The Champion,” Carrie called on her mom to deliver it. And Carole nailed it.
🤯 The Crowd’s Reaction? Pure Magic! The moment Carrie introduced her mom on stage, the audience erupted into applause. Without missing a beat, Carole launched into Ludacris’ verse with impressive flow, while Carrie danced around her, cheering her on and hyping up the crowd.
Carrie later shared the unforgettable moment on Instagram with the caption:
“Who knew Mom could rap?! I kept trying to keep her on track!”
She added that after the performance, her mom sweetly asked, “Did I do OK?” To which Carrie — and thousands of fans — would undoubtedly say: Absolutely!
💕 A Moment They’ll Always Cherish After her rap debut, Carole stayed on stage with her daughter to help finish singing “The Champion.” It was a once-in-a-lifetime mother-daughter duet full of love, joy, and pure energy. Moments like this are a reminder that Carrie Underwood isn’t just a country music legend — she’s also a devoted daughter who shares the stage with the people who’ve supported her from day one.
Whether you’ve been a fan for years or are just discovering the heart behind Carrie’s performances, this moment with her mom is one to remember. The joy, the surprise, and the standing ovation say it all.
