After being found guilty of attacking a unit of the United States Border Patrol (USBP), a guy from Texas was given a sentence of eighteen months in federal prison. The event that occurred at a Border Patrol checkpoint on United States Highway 57 on August 1, 2023 resulted in the conviction of Kevin Dominguez, who was 26 years old and from Katy, Texas.
A trained canine from the United States Border Patrol (USBP) alerted agents to movement in Dominguez’s trunk when he drove up to the checkpoint, as papers from the court show. An individual who had been concealed inside was found by the agents during their investigation. Instead of complying, Dominguez drove his vehicle backwards, inflicting a collision on an agent, and then sped away.
In the aftermath of the high-speed pursuit, a USBP helicopter was able to track down two individuals who had fled from the vehicle into an open field. We were able to quickly catch one of them and determine that they were unauthorized immigrants from Honduras. There were two allegations brought against Dominguez on September 13, 2023, and he was detained the following day. On January 24, 2024, he subsequently entered a guilty plea. A term of eighteen months in prison was handed down to him as a consequence of his conviction.
A separate incident that highlights ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws involves the arrest of four persons who were allegedly involved in a smuggling operation by federal agents in El Paso, Texas. Agents from the Disrupt Unit of the Ysleta Border Patrol Station were conducting surveillance at a motel that is well-known for hosting undocumented immigrants when they observed a vehicle that was driving around from motel to motel with a temporary license plate.
