How travel in the US changes now Trump has banned these specific passports

Almost immediately after he returned to office, Donald Trump signed an executive order that was titled “Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.” Male and female are the only two genders that are considered to exist, according to the order, and these genders are considered to be biologically fixed. As a consequence of this, applications for passports that include a ‘X’ gender identifier,

a set of non-binary individuals who were introduced during the administration of Vice President Joe Biden have been suspended. It is possible that the legislation will also have an impact on non-binary and intersex Americans, however individuals who own ‘X’ passports will still be able to use them temporarily.

In addition, the directive stipulates that transgender women must be prohibited from female prisons, citing both safety and privacy issues as the reasons for this exclusion. Those who are in favor of the shift have expressed their support for it, while others have expressed their concern that it may result in an increase in the amount of harm that transgender inmates experience. Significant controversy has been sparked as a result of the administration’s attitude to these problems, particularly among LGBTQ+ advocacy groups.
