We are devastated to report the demise of Sandy Posey, the beloved 1960s singer, at 80. She went away peacefully at her Tennessee home, surrounded by her partner, Wade Cummins.Born in Jasper, Alabama, Sandy’s musical career began in Memphis,

where she became well-known for her work as a group singer. Her hit song “Born a Woman” came in at number twelve on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1966, which resulted in her being nominated for a Grammy.Several of Sandy’s singles, such as “Single Girl” and “What a Woman in Love Won’t Do,” contained elements of both pop and country music. Elvis Presley and Percy Sledge were among the artists she supported in the past. Both her music and her soulful voice continue to be an inspiration. Sandy might you rest in peace.
