The departure of Michael Strahan from the show “Live With Kelly and Michael” to become a member of the “Good Morning America” team occurred six years ago. In point of fact, Strahan ended up leaving three months earlier than was initially planned, and co-host Kelly Ripa was so taken aback by the decision that he made to leave that she took a week-long break from the show after it occurred. The departure was a bit of a mess.
When she returned, she admitted that she had left, but she did not elaborate on the reason. “I needed a couple of days to gather my thoughts; after 26 years with this company, I earned the right,” Ripa had told her audience at the time after returning to the show. “I earned the right.” “A much more extensive discussion about communication, consideration, and most importantly respect in the workplace was initiated as a result of this… Sincere apologies have been extended.
There is no doubt that Strahan and Ripa do not have the same relationship as they did when they were hosting the show, despite the fact that Strahan may have expressed regret for his departure.
Strahan has only lately opened up a can of worms regarding the manner in which the show ended many years ago, as well as his relationship with Ripa, or perhaps we should state that he does not have a relationship with her.
The friendship between Strahan and Ripa never fully recovered after he left, as stated in an interview that Strahan gave to Time. In point of fact, the two do not communicate with one another very much anymore.
It was during his interview that he made the following statement: “I learned through all that went down with that, you can’t convince people to like you.” I haven’t had a conversation with her in a very long time.
Ripa is currently working on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” (thanks to Ryan Seacrest’s decision to become the show’s co-host in 2017), and Strahan is currently working on Good Morning America. Both of these celebrities continue to host their respective morning shows. In the early afternoon, he and Sara Haines are the hosts of the third hour of the morning show, which is broadcast in the morning.
In a previous interview with Deadline, Strahan made a veiled reference to the fact that there were some problems with Ripa during the time that they were still hosting, and that these problems were beyond his ability to control.
From the very first day, I remained the same person I had been. One thing I will not do is alter my attitude for somebody else’s. I learned so much from Kelly, so much from (executive producer) Michael Gelman. When the time came to leave, it was finally time to leave. Certain things that were going on behind the scenes just caught up.”
