During the weekend, a bus accident that occurred on a highway in Mississippi resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, one of whom was a kid, and the serious injuries of scores of others. The horrific collision took place on the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 (I-20) close to the Bovina exit on Saturday, August 31, just after 12:30 that morning. One of the tires of the commercial bus that was manufactured by Volvo in 2018 and was transporting 47 passengers blew apart. This resulted in the vehicle leaving the roadway and rolling onto its side.

Reports indicate that one individual passed away after being transported to the Merit Health Emergency Room. Six persons were pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident. An eight-year-old child and a sixteen-year-old girl were among those who passed away. The emergency room at Merit Health received more than thirty of the passengers that were on the aircraft.A joint effort between the Vicksburg Fire Department and American Medical Response (AMR) dispatched personnel to the scene of the accident.

The Chief of the Vicksburg Fire Department, Derrick Stamps, issued a statement of confirmation on the accident. He expressed his emotions by saying, “I am extremely proud of the men and women who serve in the Vicksburg Fire Department.” “For their unflinching dedication and tireless efforts at the accident scene this morning,” the statement read. Their unwavering dedication to the people of Vicksburg and Warren County is something that is much appreciated.

Following that, he expressed his gratitude to the Merit Health Administration for bringing in additional personnel to remove the passengers of the bus from the scene of the Mississippi highway crash. These members of this community have demonstrated an extraordinary degree of commitment and teamwork, which is extremely remarkable.
