I booked an extra seat on the plane for myself because I am overweight

Kelly WhitewoodBy Kelly WhitewoodNovember 20, 20244 Mins Read

Not everyone enjoys flying the same way. Before embarking on a trip, some people make certain preparations to avoid discomfort. Some people are aware of the same fact, however.

This woman organized her vacation to ensure she had everything she needed. However, not everyone agreed.

A woman was in a really embarrassing predicament, both physically and metaphorically. She wasn’t sure if she should prioritize her personal comfort or the opinions of others. This woman had to make a decision: she could be friendly or defend her personal space.

She was traveling across the nation to be with her family for Christmas. She understood she needed to be comfortable while she flew. Because she is so huge, she always reserves an additional seat on an aircraft. To make herself feel better, she pays more.

It was simple to check in, and she was soon through security and onto the plane. The terrible thing did not begin until she sat in her seat. A woman was standing next to her, holding her 18-month-old child. She found an open seat and begged the woman to quickly squeeze into it so that her toddler could use the other one. But she declined because the first individual had paid for both seats.

A flight attendant saw that the conversation was gaining attention and approached to investigate what was going on. After being informed of the situation, the flight attendant asked the woman if she could make place for the youngster. The woman respectfully declined and reiterated that she had paid in full for both seats.

Fortunately, the flight attendant noticed and instructed the mother to hold her child in her lap, as most children that age do. However, the mother made the woman feel horrible throughout the trip by giving her unpleasant glances and making passive-aggressive comments.

Following the occurrence, the woman reflected about whether she had been unjust and should have given up her additional seat. She went to Reddit and asked the community if she was wrong.

One woman who had been in a similar circumstance stated, “I’ve taken shorter flights with a toddler on my lap who could have sat in his own seat and really didn’t want me to hold him.” Didn’t you like it? Yes. I elected to carry my child until he was 24 months old, and I was not required to pay for a seat. Because that was my issue, I did. I swear, not all parents are this spoiled!”

“She was wrong to not buy a seat for her son and think that someone else would give up a seat that they paid for,” according to another person. The fact that she cited the lap thing as an excuse suggests that she expected there to be spare seats on the trip so she wouldn’t have to pay.

Other enraged Redditors wrote: “I’d even go so far as to complain to the airline about their employee supporting another passenger harassing you.”

Another upset person said, “You should always try to be as healthy as possible, but being fat isn’t a moral or character flaw.” Life is difficult for everyone, and you should not feel horrible about your body or yourself, even if you aren’t fulfilling your current goals. If the mother wanted an extra seat for her children, she should have purchased one. She does not deserve the seat you paid for, and you should not feel bad about her poor behavior.

While some individuals may understand why the mother wants a comfortable journey. If it was important to her, she would have prioritized getting a seat for her child.

In this scenario, who do you believe is correct? Please post your response below! Inform others about this so that they can contribute their ideas.
