    Sidney Kimble West and Sam West: An Unforgettable Father-Daughter Dance

    It can be a dream come true to perform with loved ones, forging stronger family ties via common interests. When Sidney Kimble West and her father, Sam West, performed on stage at the 2020 National SHAG Dance Championships, this was the situation. A little-known dancing veteran named Sam West performed a mesmerizing rendition of Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” with his daughter.

    The couple’s first solemn looks turned to excitement as the music began, as their feet slid over the floor in perfect unison to the beat of the beloved song. Their presentation honored their family’s passion for dance in addition to showcasing each member’s unique talents.

    Sam West was encouraged by his mother to start dancing when he was nine years old. He became passionate about it right away, and throughout his school years, he and his dance partner Terri Alberty won two junior national titles.
