Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler Faces Vocal Cord Damage: Recovery Ahead

The news surrounding Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler takes a somber turn as reports emerge of the severity of his vocal cord injury. Initially, it was announced that the band would be canceling a month’s worth of tour dates due to Tyler’s vocal cord damage. However, fresh reports indicate that the situation is more dire than previously thought, with TMZ claiming that the rock legend can barely speak at present.

It’s important to note that Tyler’s recovery is assured, although the duration remains uncertain. Nonetheless, there’s no denying the significant challenges the 75-year-old faces regarding his renowned singing voice.

A recent update from Aerosmith’s Instagram confirmed the postponement of several shows until early 2024, including performances in Toronto, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Raleigh, and Washington D.C. In a personal statement, Tyler revealed that doctors have advised him not to sing for the next 30 days due to substantial vocal cord damage sustained during a recent show, which resulted in bleeding.

According to TMZ, Tyler experienced vocal cord trauma during a concert in Long Island, leading to significant damage that was later confirmed by X-rays showing his cords as “mangled.” Despite the injury occurring early in the set, Tyler continued to perform, unaware of the extent of his impairment.

Currently, Tyler struggles to speak and can only produce “squeaks” when attempting to communicate. Nevertheless, he remains determined to return to the stage as soon as possible, with plans to include his signature high notes upon his comeback.

The postponements have affected Aerosmith’s Peace Out: The Farewell Tour, initially slated to comprise 40 dates between September 2 and January 26. However, with the tour now set to resume on Monday, October 11, fans eagerly await Tyler’s recovery and the band’s return to the stage.

As Tyler navigates this challenging period, let us collectively extend our well wishes for his swift and complete recovery. Share this article to spread awareness and support for one of rock music’s most iconic voices during his time of healing.
