Tom Oswald, an 18-year-old from South Australia, recently experienced heartbreak when he opened his own cafe, and not a single customer showed up.

Tom, who had ambitions of running his own business straight out of high school, put considerable effort into creating a cozy cafe in the town of Hahndorf. Despite his dedication, the cafe’s opening day turned out to be disheartening as he saw no customers.

Tom shared his experience on TikTok, and the video quickly went viral, garnering support from viewers who expressed their sadness and willingness to visit his cafe.

Tom mentioned that he’s continuously working on improving his coffee-making skills and striving to enhance his business. He worked for two years at another cafe to gain the experience needed to run his own, acknowledging that there’s room for improvement but emphasizing his dedication to getting better.

“I am 18 years old, straight out of high school, currently in my gap year, and this project is literally the only thing I’m ever working on,” the 18-year-old told News Corp. “I’m either at the shop working or working from the outside, finding ways I can improve the business in any way I can.”
