Yet sometimes the people standing beside him end up generating just as much conversation.

That happened earlier this year when Jayme Franklin went viral after repeatedly nodding while standing behind Trump during a White House event.

Now, another woman who appeared alongside the president has captured the internet’s attention.

This time, it was Susan Dell.

The 62-year-old mother of four appeared with President Donald Trump and her husband, Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell, during an October 7 White House event focused on Trump Accounts, a savings program intended to help American children build money for their future.

Susan used the appearance to encourage parents and grandparents to take advantage of the initiative.

Addressing families across the country, she said:

“Every child across the country. These accounts are for you. We believe in you, and we want you to dream big because we know you can make your dreams come true. So, parents and grandparents, please claim your child’s account.”

She continued:

“These accounts are ready. They’re waiting for you, and they have money in them. So, claim your child’s accounts and start adding money to their accounts and preserving a wonderful future for them.”

The Dell family had already attracted significant attention after pledging $6.25 billion in support of the initiative.

That contribution placed Michael and Susan Dell at the center of the White House announcement.

But another moment soon drew attention.

After Susan finished speaking, Trump turned toward her husband and jokingly raised the possibility of her entering politics.

“What a good job. Michael, is she thinking of running for office?” Trump said, before adding that he would endorse her.

“She has my complete and total endorsement. Good job.”

The comment brought an unexpected political twist to what had primarily been a financial announcement.

But once photographs and video from the Oval Office began circulating online, the conversation moved in another direction.

Some social media users began commenting on Susan Dell’s appearance and comparing recent photographs with images taken earlier in her life.

Several focused on perceived differences around her eyes, cheeks, jawline, and overall facial appearance.

One person on X asked:

“What is wrong with Susan Dell’s face/eyes?”

Another wrote:

“Yes, I can’t get over it??? What happened? Don’t want to be mean but??”

A third commented:

“On another note, can you tell me what is happening with Susan’s face? It took me back a minute.”

The comments quickly led to speculation about whether Susan may have undergone cosmetic procedures.

However, Susan has not publicly confirmed having plastic surgery, and photographs alone cannot establish whether someone has undergone a particular treatment.

Despite that, the speculation became widespread enough that medical professionals were asked to comment on what might explain the differences some viewers believed they were seeing.

The Irish Star consulted Dr. Ross Perry, medical director of Cosmedics skin clinics.

Perry stressed that any discussion was speculative because he had not examined Susan personally.

He said:

“Susan has sparked widespread speculation about whether she may have undergone cosmetic treatments. In comparison to earlier photographs, her face appears noticeably tighter and tauter, and her eye area looks more open than usual. Several aesthetic procedures, surgical or non-surgical, could create this type of result.”

One possibility he discussed was a facelift.

“There is a possibility she may have undergone a full facelift, as the skin around the jawline and mid-face appears lifted,” he said.

Perry also mentioned upper blepharoplasty, a procedure involving the upper eyelids.

“Another possibility is upper blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), which can make the eyes look more open, refreshed, and awake, an effect that looks likely in the recent images.”

However, those comments were possibilities rather than confirmation that Susan had undergone either procedure.

Perry also explained that surgery is not the only thing capable of changing someone’s appearance.

Nonsurgical cosmetic treatments, including Botox and dermal fillers, can alter facial contours, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and change how the eye and cheek areas look.

“Botox can smooth forehead and frown lines, while dermal fillers in the cheeks or tear troughs can restore lost volume and create a more youthful contour,” he explained.

He added that the amount and placement of cosmetic injectables can also affect the final appearance.

“In some cases, overuse of injectables, such as excessive Botox around the eyes or too much filler in the mid-face, can even contribute to a slightly ‘wide-eyed’ or startled appearance.”

But Perry also highlighted something that is frequently forgotten when old and new photographs are compared online.

People can look dramatically different depending on factors that have nothing to do with cosmetic procedures.

Lighting can change a face.

So can makeup.

Camera lenses.

Angles.

Weight changes.

Facial expressions.

Temporary swelling.

Age itself.

“It’s also important to remember that lighting, makeup, camera angles, weight loss, or even temporary swelling can significantly alter how someone looks in photos,” Perry said. “Without a professional consultation, any discussion of cosmetic work remains purely speculative.”

The publication also spoke with cosmetic surgeon Dr. Gerard Lambe, founder of the Reflect Clinic.

He discussed several procedures that he believed could potentially explain some of the changes people were commenting on, including fillers, eyelid surgery, Botox, lip augmentation, and a possible facelift.

He reportedly estimated that a combination of such procedures could cost between $35,000 and $55,000 or more.

But like Perry, Lambe had not examined Susan personally.

His comments therefore remained professional speculation rather than evidence that she had undergone those treatments.

As older photographs of Susan resurfaced, online users continued comparing them with images from her recent White House appearance.

Some discussed her eyebrows.

Others focused on her nose, teeth, eyes, or facial contours.

The reactions ranged from curiosity to criticism.

One person looking at earlier photographs wrote:

“She was pretty — they were both younger too.”

Another commented:

“She used to be beautiful. People tend to age more gracefully without all the plastic surgeries.”

Someone else speculated:

“Really bad plastic surgery probly, or ozempic victim.”

There is no public confirmation supporting those claims.

Others questioned why people pursue cosmetic procedures at all.

“Why do they keep doing this to their faces?” one person asked.

But not everyone reacted critically.

Some defended Susan.

One commenter wrote:

“She looks and sounds so natural.”

Another offered a more sympathetic response:

“She’s 62 and had some plastic surgery; she could put on a few pounds and probably look a bit healthier imo. Still human.”

And one person directly pushed back against the scrutiny.

“Cosmetic procedures. That’s all. Leave her be.”

The reaction shows how quickly a public appearance can shift from the subject someone intended to discuss to intense scrutiny of the way they look.

Susan Dell went to the White House to encourage families to participate in a children’s savings initiative.

Her family had also pledged billions of dollars in support of the program.

Yet within hours, photographs of her face were being compared with images from years earlier.

Whether Susan Dell has undergone any cosmetic procedures remains her private business unless she chooses to address it publicly.

For now, claims about specific treatments remain speculation.

What is certain is that one appearance at the White House was enough to turn a financial announcement into yet another example of how quickly the internet can transform a public figure’s appearance into a national conversation.
