…before cameras caught a detail in Catherine’s appearance that got people talking well after the visit itself had ended. The engagement centered on the work of Leeds Rhinos and its foundation, which uses sport to support health, education, inclusion and wellbeing in the local community, while also honoring the late Rob Burrow and the ongoing push for MND awareness.

A Royal Visit to Leeds Rhinos
Catherine wore a tailored dark green pantsuit with a simple black top underneath. Her blazer had structured shoulders and silver-toned buttons, paired with matching wide-leg trousers, and she wore her hair down in soft waves with drop earrings.
William coordinated in a navy suit, a light blue striped dress shirt and a patterned blue tie. The couple appeared relaxed throughout the visit, with Catherine chatting and smiling and William speaking with young people from the community.
Honoring Rob Burrow’s MND Legacy
Among those the couple met was Jamie Jones-Buchanan, CEO of Leeds Rhinos and a longtime friend of Rob Burrow. Rob played his entire career for the club before retiring in 2017, was diagnosed with MND two years later, and became one of the disease’s most recognized campaigners before his death in 2024.
William’s connection to that cause predates this visit. In 2024 he returned to Headingley Stadium to present Rob with his CBE, later opened the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease, and wrote the foreword to a book by Rob’s wife, Lindsey.
During the Leeds Rhinos visit, the couple also spoke with former teammate Danny McGuire, now with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation. He described Rob as a brave presence on the field whom the team followed and drew inspiration from, while Jamie remembered him as a vocal, larger-than-life personality on the team.

Meeting Children and Surprising Kevin Sinfield
The couple also observed a training session with the club’s women’s under-19s side and players preparing for the Rugby League World Cup. They spoke with three Year 6 pupils taking part in a PE session, asking about their sporting ambitions and the effort required to build a career in sport.
Catherine picked up on one boy’s comment about the sense of belonging he found through sport, telling William, “I like what you said about belonging” and comparing a team to another kind of family. The conversation also touched on the children’s lack of social media use, which Catherine linked to their focus on sport.
Later, the couple surprised Sir Kevin Sinfield after he completed the third of seven ultramarathons in seven days, an effort raising money for MND charities in memory of Rob Burrow. Catherine offered a brief “well done,” while William said it had been special to watch Kevin’s progress.
Rob’s children, Macy, Maya and Jackson, along with his mother Irene, were there for the finish. An emotional Sinfield thanked his team and credited William and Catherine’s presence with bringing added awareness and credibility to the MND community’s efforts.
What Caught Online Attention
As images from the Leeds appearance spread, some observers shifted their focus from the engagement itself to a detail in Catherine’s look in the photos. The exact nature of what drew comment was not made clear, though it was enough to prompt comparisons with earlier appearances and further online discussion.
