Sources familiar with his arrival said Presley did not appear sober when he checked in that Saturday, September 19, 2026, despite going there specifically to address his addiction. Less than twelve hours later, first responders were called to the property.

Final Hours at the Treatment Facility
Presley reportedly entered Resolutions Living on Saturday night seeking treatment for substance-abuse issues. Several other residents were staying at the property at the time, though he was reportedly in a separate house on the grounds.
That account has not been confirmed as an official medical finding, and authorities have not said what, if anything, he may have taken before or after checking in.
Resolutions Living has been described as a structured recovery residence intended in part for people transitioning out of more intensive treatment. It was reportedly founded and is owned by Dr. Reza Nabavi, who also serves as clinical director, and its program serves people dealing with substance abuse, mental-health conditions, trauma and co-occurring disorders.
The Sunday Morning Emergency and Investigation
Dispatch calls around 9:35 a.m. on September 20 reported both a cardiac arrest and a possible overdose in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street, the address of the treatment residence. When officers arrived, they found Presley unresponsive.
Life-saving measures were performed, but he was pronounced dead approximately ten minutes later, at about 9:45 a.m. Santa Monica Police are investigating the death as a suspected overdose, though they have said there is currently no indication of foul play and no suspects.
The official cause and manner of death remain undetermined. An autopsy has been completed, but the results have been deferred pending toxicology testing and further findings from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
As part of the investigation, police have interviewed other residents who were living at the facility. Investigators are also examining whether any substances involved were prescribed to Presley or may have come from another source.

A Long, Public Struggle With Addiction and Mental Health
Presley had a history of substance use that reportedly included alcohol, opioids, painkillers, benzodiazepines and ketamine. He was arrested for driving under the influence in 2018, when he was 19 years old.
In recent years he had become increasingly open about his mental-health struggles, discussing therapy, medication and the difficulty of finding treatment that worked for him. In March 2026, he shared that he had undergone ibogaine treatment, writing that he had been “absolutely terrified” before the experience but felt he was “finding my way back” to himself.
His last public appearance came on June 11, 2026, when he joined a mental-health-focused panel in Malibu alongside his parents. Roughly a month before his death, his sister Kaia spoke publicly about his decade-long struggle with addiction and how it had affected their family.
Family’s Response and Ongoing Questions
Through a representative, Presley’s family confirmed his death and asked for privacy during what they described as a very difficult and painful time. Beyond that statement, they have not commented further on the circumstances surrounding his death.
The known timeline remains narrow: he entered the residence Saturday night seeking help, emergency crews were called Sunday morning, and he was pronounced dead shortly after. What happened in between, including whether he consumed anything after arriving and where it may have come from, remains under investigation.
Toxicology results and further findings from the Medical Examiner’s Office are expected to help determine the official cause of death. Until then, the overdose suspicion remains a working theory rather than a confirmed conclusion.
