People sometimes speak about grief as though it follows an orderly path—shock, denial, acceptance, closure.

But grief rarely behaves so neatly.

It enters your life, rearranges things, and leaves you learning how to carry what cannot be changed.

Two years ago, I buried my eleven-year-old daughter, Grace.

I still remembered the hospital room with painful clarity: the fluorescent lights, the sterile smell that seemed to follow me home, and the terrible stillness after the doctor told us she was gone.

Afterward, life continued because life does that whether you are ready or not.

Meals still had to be made.

Bills still arrived.

Morning still followed night.

But some part of me remained inside that hospital room.
