She reviewed the deed, Jaxon’s messages, and the circumstances surrounding his departure.
Her advice was simple.

Within days, the appropriate legal filings were made to clarify my rights regarding the property and establish possession while the separation proceeded.
Only after those matters were addressed did I begin considering what I wanted to do with the house itself.
I contacted Mendez, a structural relocation specialist.
After examining the thirty-one-year-old building and its concrete foundation, his team determined that the house could be moved safely.
It was an unusual solution.
But after nearly two decades of memories, I realized I did not want to abandon the home simply because my marriage had ended.
So I decided to take it with me.

While Jaxon remained overseas, I carefully packed my belongings.
I kept photographs, books, family keepsakes, and the ordinary objects that still carried meaning.

My former college roommate, Elise, offered me a temporary place to stay while the work was completed.
On Thursday morning, Mendez and his crew arrived.
Steel beams were positioned beneath the structure.
Hydraulic lifts slowly raised the house from its foundation.
I stood at a safe distance watching a building that had remained in the same place for more than three decades rise slowly into the air.
There was something strange about seeing it move.

By evening, the structure had been secured onto the transport system and carefully moved to its new location.
When the crew finished clearing the original property, the lot looked almost unfamiliar.
I stood there for several minutes.

Jaxon returned several days later with Blair and the children.
When he discovered the house was no longer standing where he expected it to be, he immediately called me.
His voice was confused and angry.

There was nothing else to settle over the phone.
More importantly, Parker and Hazel did not need to become spectators in a conflict between their parents.
Whatever had happened in our marriage, they deserved the freedom to love both of us without being asked to carry our resentment.

The legal process ahead was not simple.
Nineteen years cannot be untangled overnight.
