Katherine Kelly Lang Recovers From Major Injury After Horse Riding Incident
A Joyful Mother’s Day Turns into a Hospital Visit
Katherine Kelly Lang, the 60-year-old star of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” recently shared a series of Instagram posts revealing a significant injury she sustained while horse riding on Mother’s Day. Lang had set out for a 40-mile ride to train for an upcoming 50-mile horse race, only to find herself in the hospital later.
“It was a beautiful day, perfect for a ride. I never expected it to end up with me lying in a hospital bed.”
The Accident and Immediate Aftermath
Lang posted a video showing her and others on horseback, against a mountainous backdrop. She recounted that after riding about 16 kilometers, she dismounted to walk a steep, rocky terrain to give her horse a breather. That’s when she fell, and her left foot bore the brunt of the impact.
“As I found myself at the base of the trail, my foot and ankle dislocated at a 90-degree angle to my leg. The pain was excruciating, but I had to force it back into position.”
A spectator came to her aid, helping with her horse and lifting her spirits before an ambulance transported her to the hospital.
The Diagnosis and Surgery
Medical scans revealed that Lang had three shattered bones in her ankle. She underwent surgery that same evening and now has rods, pins, and screws in her ankle.
“I can’t put any weight on my foot for six weeks. But this setback won’t keep me from returning to work and resuming the activities I love.”
Well Wishes from Co-Stars and Future Plans
Lang’s co-stars from “The Bold and the Beautiful” were quick to send their wishes for a speedy recovery. Jennifer Gareis said, “Sis! Rest up for a speedy recovery!” while Lawrence Saint-Victor added, “I’m very sorry!!! Get well soon.”
“It’s hard for me to be slowed down like this. But there’s always a lesson to be learned from such incidents, and I’ll have plenty of time to ponder what that is,” Lang concluded.
Krista Allen, another co-star, also chimed in, hilariously noting that despite her swollen foot and shattered ankle, Lang’s pedicure still looked amazing.
As she continues to recover, Lang remains optimistic, stating that she plans to return to work later this week. While the road to recovery might be long, Lang’s resilience and positive outlook offer a lesson in finding the silver lining, even in challenging situations.
