Concerns Raised by Youngest Passenger on Titan Submarine Expedition
The recent expedition to the ocean floor aboard OceanGate Expeditions’ Titan submarine had its youngest passenger, Suleman Dawood, expressing concerns prior to the journey. According to Suleman’s aunt, he was apprehensive about the Titanic-themed excursion, but ultimately decided to accompany his father, Shahzada Dawood, due to the trip coinciding with Father’s Day weekend.
Apprehension and Decision to Join
Suleman “wasn’t very up for it” and felt “terrified” by the Titanic expedition, revealed his aunt, Azmeh Dawood.
However, knowing his father’s lifelong fascination with the Titanic, the 19-year-old made the difficult choice to join the voyage. Azmeh mentioned that it did not come as a surprise to her, as she and Suleman had watched numerous films about the disaster and visited museums dedicated to the ill-fated ship.
Emotional Impact and Unreal Situation
Azmeh expressed deep concern for her younger brother, imagining him “perhaps gasping for breath” during the expedition. She described the situation as “crippling” and expressed disbelief upon learning about the likely “catastrophic implosion” of the Titan, as reported by the United States Coast Guard.
“It’s an unreal situation.”
The days leading up to the discovery of the debris field were filled with anxiety for Azmeh. She compared the experience to being trapped in a suspenseful film without knowing the impending outcome. The thought of her loved ones in such a perilous situation made it challenging for her to breathe.

A Plea for Prayers and Gratitude
The Dawood family has issued a heartfelt plea for prayers for the departed souls and their family. They expressed gratitude to the search teams for their tireless efforts in the face of this tragedy.
