Renowned songwriter Cynthia Weil, known for her collaborations with her husband Barry Mann and for co-writing hit songs such as the Righteous Brothers’ “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin'” and Dolly Parton’s “Here You Come Again,” has sadly passed away on Thursday, June 23, as confirmed by her daughter, Jenn Mann.
In a heartfelt statement, Jenn Mann expressed her admiration for her mother, describing Cynthia Weil as the best mother, grandmother, and wife their family could have had. She further praised her as her closest confidante, partner in crime, idol, and a trailblazer for women in the music industry.
Cynthia Weil’s widower, who collaborated with her on nearly 100 songs for legendary artists like Elvis Presley, Dusty Springfield, and The Drifters, expressed his deep sorrow at her loss. He regarded Cynthia as his inspiration in life and one of the greatest songwriters to have ever lived.
Expressing gratitude for their partnership, he humbly acknowledged his fortune, stating, “My wife and one of the greatest songwriters in history provided me with inspiration and my soul, so I had two for one.”
