One day, Dave spotted a woman, known as Irene “Smokie” McGee, sleeping on a barren piece of land near his home in Los Angeles. Rather than responding with frustration or indifference, Dave felt a surge of compassion and decided to build her a tiny house she could call her own.

From Surprise to A New Lease on Life

Upon hearing Dave’s generous proposition, Irene was taken aback. Dave, equipped with carpentry skills and a keen interest in the rising trend of tiny homes, headed to a local hardware store. Armed with $500 worth of supplies, he invested his time and energy into constructing a miniature home for Irene.

This small but secure cottage provided Irene with a safe haven to sleep, spend her time, and store her belongings. Not only is the house secure, but it’s also easily transportable, adding to its practicality.

Amplifying the Cause

Deeply moved by how this humble abode transformed Irene’s life, Dave chose to share a video of his project on YouTube. His intention was to raise awareness about homelessness, a pressing issue that impacts more individuals than one can imagine.

Upon learning of Dave’s commendable mission, a local church offered their support. They allocated space in their parking lot for these ‘Little Houses’ to stay safe overnight. Moreover, the church also contributed food, bathing facilities, and clothing, furthering its humanitarian goal to help homeless individuals start anew.
