Heartbreaking Story of a Brave Child: Dreamcatchers for Abused Children
On Facebook, “Dreamcatchers for Abused Children” recently shared a touching glimpse of a young child that moved people worldwide.
The organization’s noble mission revolves around providing care and support to children who have endured various forms of abuse within their own families.
The process begins with the removal of mistreated children from their homes, ensuring their placement in institutions where they can receive the necessary care, support, and understanding.
Subsequently, these young children embark on a journey in search of an adoptive family that will offer them unconditional love and provide them with the secure, abuse-free lives they deserve.
Hailing from Oklahoma, this courageous child suffered the unimaginable trauma of being molested by his biological parents. For years, he endured maltreatment and starvation inflicted upon him by both of his alcoholic parents.
As a result, this young boy was deprived of the simple joys of childhood and the enriching experiences that are inherent to his age.
Fortunately, concerned neighbors took action and notified the police about the abuse. Consequently, the boy was removed from his harmful environment and placed under the compassionate care of “Dreamcatchers for Abused Children.”
While still searching for a nurturing and stable home that could offer him a chance at a normal life, the organization’s dedicated volunteers swiftly identified a suitable adoptive family for him.
Filled with anticipation and gratitude, the child penned a heartfelt letter to his new adoptive family, expressing his deepest desires and hopes for his new home upon learning that he would soon become part of their loving embrace.
This poignant letter serves as a wish list from a foster child in Oklahoma, reminding us to keep in mind those children who possess so little as we reflect upon our own hardships:
“I long for parents who don’t engage in constant fighting, ensuring a peaceful and loving home environment. I yearn for a household free from the presence of drugs and where animals are treated with kindness. Assistance with my homework would be a tremendous help. The simple pleasure of clean clothes and a bug-free home is something I dream of. A clean bed with warm covers would bring me comfort. Please, do not take away my toys, as they bring me solace in difficult times. Above all, I wish to be treated with respect and kindness. I pray that alcohol does not find its place in our home. Having a television would allow me to feel a sense of normalcy. Preserving my school supplies is important to me, as they represent a chance at a brighter future. And lastly, having decent shoes, a safe house, and a toothbrush would mean the world to me.”
This heart-wrenching wish list powerfully underscores the basic needs and desires of children who have endured unspeakable abuse. Their yearning for stability, safety, love, and the opportunity to experience a normal, nurturing environment serves as a reminder of the importance of advocating for their well-being.
“I want parents who don’t fight
No drugs in the house.
Don’t hurt the animals.
Help with homework
Clean clothes
No bugs in the house.
A clean house.
Covers on a clean bed.
Please do not sell my toys.
I want to be treated right.
Don’t get drunk.
TV in the home.
I want to keep my school supplies.
Nice shoes
A safe house
Toothbrush.”
