Police Officer Shamed for Taking a Break to Eat During a 12-hour Shift
Police officers are often overworked and overstressed while trying to keep us safe. They work long hours, and they need to take a break now and then to recharge.
Unfortunately, one woman didn’t seem to understand this when she shamed Police Constable Andre Owen for taking a quick break to grab some food during his 12-hour shift.
PC Owen had been working for seven hours straight and still had a 100-mile drive and paperwork to complete. He knew he had to eat to get him through the next few hours of his shift so he made a quick stop at Burger King. But the unnamed woman in the restaurant didn’t care about that. Shockingly, she decided to shame Owen by calling him out for buying food during his shift.
PC Owen’s response on social media has gone viral, with thousands showing their support for the hard-working officer. Owen, who had worked for the Sussex Police for five years, got more attention than he ever imagined.
In an interview with The Mirror, Owen explained that he’d had an incredibly busy day before the woman shouted at him. He was tired, hungry, and ready to finish his shift at 3 pm. Despite this, he still offered to help a family with a broken-down car, extending his shift to 12 hours.
It takes a great amount of commitment to risk your life for complete strangers, many of whom would despise you for the minor offense of taking a lunch break. Police officers are human too, and they deserve our support and understanding.
