The Incredible Bond Between a Cat and a Baby
Roy and Bernita’s Dream for a Family
It’s common for people who desire children to dream about the number and gender of the kids they’d like to have. However, life doesn’t always go as planned. Roy and Bernita Rogers from Kansas City, Missouri, envisioned a large family, but their journey was fraught with challenges.
In the early years of their marriage, the couple tragically lost three premature infants. Heartbroken, they held onto their faith.
Welcoming Midnight, the Black Kitten
Unable to have children, Bernita decided to adopt a cat to shower with her love and attention. Midnight, a beautiful black kitten, quickly became an essential part of the family and a sign of good things to come. Soon after welcoming Midnight, the couple was blessed with a baby girl named Stacey.
“Stacey, their infant daughter, and Midnight, the family cat, quickly became inseparable and one of the best of friends.”
A Frightening Incident
When Stacey began showing signs of illness, the couple took her to the doctor, who reassured them it was likely just a cold. They returned home and put Stacey down for a nap, knowing that Midnight was close by and the baby monitor was on. However, they were soon startled by an alarming scream coming from the monitor.
“There was this shriek and wail and scream and cry. Bernita explained, ‘I got up out of my chair and ran upstairs because it was so scary.'”
Midnight’s Heroic Act
Concerned, Stacey’s parents rushed into her room and found her gasping for air, her color turning blue. They hurried to the emergency room, where doctors confirmed their worst fears: Stacey had experienced full respiratory failure. Thankfully, after receiving treatment, she began to improve. If not for Midnight’s timely alert, Stacey’s condition could have worsened.
“This cat is a superhero and should be rewarded with lots of affection and a tasty snack.”
The Undeniable Intelligence of Cats
Midnight’s actions demonstrate that cats are far from dimwitted; they possess a remarkable level of intelligence. Many cat owners can attest to their pets’ ability to sense when something is wrong and provide comfort during difficult times.
“When I’m unwell, he stays close by my side, and when I’m feeling depressed, he comes to lay on my chest, touches my face, and looks at me with the most loving expression on his face.”
This heartwarming story of Midnight saving Stacey showcases the incredible bond between a cat and its family.
